Overheating 2024 MacBook Pro charger block

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a 2024 MacBook Pro M4 Chip with 24 GB Ram from Apple in June, it is now October. Recently my charger block is getting extremely hot to the point it smells like it is burning. I took it to Apple and I bought a new charger to see if that would work. Well both of them get so hot that I can barely touch it, I don't know if it is the computer itself. Has anyone had this issue? My computer will get hot when certain big applications are running, which is normal for a Mac. I am just at a loss, because I use my computer for university, and don't want to risk using a bad charge and it causing problems with my Mac. They ran a diagnostic and my computer was in perfect condition.

A power adapter will get "hot" when it is working "under heavy load," but should not get so hot that it could burn you. If your computer's battery is low, coupled with running a number of intensive applications, it could cause that "heavy load" on the adapter. However, if working properly, the adapter should not overpower the laptop.

One thing to check is where you have the adapter. It should be placed on a solid surface and not on something like a bed or on some other material that doesn't allow the adapter to dissipate heat.
