Trying to make more room in iCloud

I was showing that I am using 170.8 GB of storage in iCloud, with only 29.2 remaining. I am trying to create more space. So I went to my cloud and see lots of large files that are obsolete. So I deleted about 40 GB worth, moved to trash, then emptied trash. THat was yesterday - but I still showed the same amount of space available. This morning when I check iCloud, it is showing 170.9 used. So why are these files gone, but the space they occupied is still not available? How do I increase the space available if deleting files doesnt do it?

MacBook Air, macOS 14.5

The files are gone, but adding up file sizes isn't a very high priority. Give it another day or two, and let us know what happens.

Those numbers just aren't precise. As Captain Barbosa would say, "They're more like guidelines, anyway."

THanks for reply - but a few days later, looking at my iCloud page, it still shows the exact amount of space - 170.8. BUT if I look at Get Info for iCloud in Finder, it shows 156. WHich do I believe?
