Removal of Stolen Device from Apple Account

Hey everyone! I have a stolen iPhone and the current situation is:

  • I accidentally removed the device from my account, but since it is turned off, it will be removed after 30 days. Specifically on Nov 14, 2025.
  • Lost Mode is on
  • Stolen Device Protection is on
  • Erase is still currently pending and device is still offline

My questions are:

  • If the device wont be connected to the internet until Nov 14 2025 or even after Nov 14 2025, will the data erase still push through?
  • Once my device is removed from my apple account, will it also remove all data connected or from my apple account?
  • Lastly, what would be my stolen phone's state after removal from my account? Will it reset? Still have a passcode or face ID? Like what exactly can the thief retrieve from the phone if its removed from my account?

Hoping for your answers, those who had the same situation :( this is really stressing me out and its been like 4 days. I cant even change my apple id password until now due to the waiting time :(((((

Its still useless even if Lost Mode and Stolen Devie Protecion is on? :( Thief can still open and use the phone?

With Activation Lock cleared, the thief can reset and wipe the phone, associate it with another Apple Account – and then open it as many times as they wish.

However, provided that the phone was passcode-locked, and that the thief does not have and can't easily guess your passcode or your Apple Account password, your data is fairly secure.

  • With a six-digit passcode, there is only one chance in 100,000 that the thief could guess the correct passcode before the phone stopped allowing new guesses. If Activation Lock was still on and the phone had discovered that you had put it in Lost Mode, the thief would have to supply your Apple Account credentials to even get to the passcode entry screen. (But that extra layer of locking is presumably lost now.)
  • If you fell for a "phishing" message and gave the thief your Apple Account credentials, they could retrieve your synchronized data and backups from iCloud. If your Apple Account credentials are secure, the thief won't get your data from the cloud, either.

I mean its already okay for me that the phone was stolen but hopefully they won’t be able to access my accounts there or my files.

Hopefully you won't need this, but just in case:

But the phone has been Offline since it was stolen. If it is still in Find My for up to 30 days, will i see its location when it goes online?

I suspect that once the thief – or one of their customers – resets the phone and logs into their Apple ID, that the phone will stop reporting its location to you.

So maybe they turn the phone on, the location is available to you in Find My, but five minutes later they've "made the phone their own" and now the location is not available to you in Find My any more. Unless you just happened to be looking for the location during that brief window, you'll never see it.

Just an educated guess, but it makes sense that this is how it would work.

If the thief leaves the phone offline for more than 30 days, and then turns it on and lets it connect to the Internet, Activation Lock might switch itself back on. But I don't think the thief is going to be so kind as to let that happen. Again, the chances of getting a stolen phone back are slim and none.
