Logic 11 system overload on Mac mini m4 pro

I have a brand new Mac mini m4 pro with 24GB ram and 256SSD. On my first project with logic 11 which I have been using for years on my iMac intel, I keep getting a system overload.

I have logics sound library and VST libraries on a external SSD 1TB.

anyone have any ideas?

There is something wrong. I have only questions:

  1. I don't know your project. Are you using heavy cpu-cost plugins?
  2. How much free space is available on each of your hard drives including the start-up drive. Minumum should be 10-15 % for each.
  3. Are all your applications and au-plugins ("components", Logic doesn't read VSTs) located on the system drive?
  4. It should be fine to have the sample libraries stored on an external ssd. But I would not/never move Logic's library to an external drive for some reasons, even it's possible.
  5. Have you tried to switch your audio device/ sound card?
  6. Are you using a hub for your external drive, sound card and others?
  7. What happens, when you move the project to the internal drive?
  8. What Logic version and macOS are you using? Are you running Logic in Rosetta Mode or Silicon-native?
