How to downgrade from awful ios26 update?

It’s no secret this update is just atrocious, with its performance issues, battery eating, and overall ugliness.

Now how do I get out of this to have a properly working iPhone again, or will I need to switch to a competitor?

You have set up a false dichotomy. You appear to think that the only options are to downgrade (not possible) or to switch to a different phone. Until you recognize that there is a third option (figuring out why you're having a problem with the phone), there is nothing anyone here can do to help you.

Of the two options you have presented, only one is possible. Therefore, my recommendation is to switch to an Android.

I expect honesty

And you got it. You asked how....(rather than asking if it was possible).....to downgrade the iOS version. We answered correctly and honestly.

Then you asked "how to get out of this".....meaning how do you get out of iOS 26?.....

Well, if you cannot downgrade iOS26.....then obviously you cannot get out of it, can you?

Since you did not ask for any help on any specific issues with iOS 26, it was obvious to me that you had already made up your mind to "get out of it" by asking if you should switch to another brand.

Yes you should, if you have already made up your mind.

If you have now changed your mind about getting out of it, do you want some help to try to address the issues that you see with iOS 26? If so, what are they?

Frankly, I think you have already made up your mind, but I am wrong sometimes.

Well it surely has been my experience with 26 -- that's iPhone 15 and M1 Mac. Is there a forum that ticks off one after another how one may

  1. eliminate transparence
  2. restore positioning and look of just about all buttons and interface points (mail, the 'send' moved to the extreme upper right corner where it's a real hassle to move your cursor -- instead of a small tick upward in the past) ( iOS contacts, a blither of buttons and options you do not need when all you want to do is see the number of the person you are calling. Used to me one click and swipe. Now requires 3 or 4 or more.) (iOS photos -- trying to simply SEE the image without again a half-dozen buttons offering you info you don't care about -- date time lat-long, moon phase, weather in Ulaan Bataar -- cripes -- and there again costs you a couple of swipes and taps to clear that smodge away -- again -- to SEE THE IMAGE 'cuz ain't THAT what photos is or pretends to be about??=?) this leaves this user angry and disappointed. it appers that apple's designers just had a field day: 'Well, if we can get it to do 'THIS' --- well, heck, why not? I will tell you. The new design and I hope underlying gears and pulleys may make the phone work better and more secure, Mac too -- but the cost as I see pretty well offsets that advantage. All the useless unnecessary whoops and chainclanks. NO. Oh - and Mac gets about 60% the battery life as in previous Mac OS.
