iOS 26 Safari Bug - Website menu bars float to the middle of the screen when scrolling the page.

This is a bug in iOS 26 (and potentially Safari/WebKit) where position: fixed elements like website menu bars are incorrectly positioned when scrolling.

It appears to be a software glitch, likely caused by how iOS 26 handles floating elements during scrolling, and is not a designed feature.

Some developers are seeing the menu bars jump, shift, or get stuck in the middle of the screen, sometimes causing content to scroll behind them.

Why this is happening?

  • It's a bug: This is a known issue with the latest iOS version's rendering engine, affecting both Safari and Chrome for iOS, and likely not an intended change.

  • Incorrect rendering: The elements are not being rendered in their correct, fixed positions; instead, they are shifting and floating as you scroll.

  • Scroll-related issue: The problem seems to be triggered by the scrolling action, as the elements behave correctly until the page is scrolled and the address bar is focused or dismissed.

How to address the issue

  • Report the bug: Report the issue to Apple to help them prioritize a fix.

  • Wait for an update: The most reliable solution will be for Apple to release a software update that fixes the bug.
