Touch ID was working fine until I updated I believe it was sequoia , then all the problems started . Touch ID stopped working, it would come up in settings and I would touch the ID button, IMAC will go to sleep.I have had several apple techs on phone to help, nothing, the last one said change the keyboard, got new keyboard, w/Touch ID still not working. I cannot figure out why, Touch ID does not even show up in settings!

Use the supplied Apple cable for the keyboard
Cable the keyboard directly to the computer
Turn the keyboard Off using the slider on the front edge of the keyboard
Reverse that previous step and turn On the keyboard
Does the keyboard Touch ID reappear in System Setting ?
Have you tried reinstalling Tahoe from Recovery?
Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.
No. in fact apple support could not solve this problem. they went a far as replacing the keyboard, still no help. I really thing this is a soft ware update problem, need some supreme help\p on this one.
