Set up HP LaserJet Professional P1566

Hello!

I am currently trying to set up my very old, but good-working printer HP LaserJet Professional P1566, but have some difficulties. My MacBook M3 (on Tahoe 26.01) can detect it, and it is even being shown in My Printers, but it doesn't print anything. Files appear in a queue and then just disappear without actually printing anything.

Maybe I should get some drivers or do something differently in settings? I am not very good at all this setting up stuff, so maybe I could get some useful piece of a advice here :)

Thanks in advance

their newest driver is for

HP LaserJet Pro P1566 Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

macOS Monterey (version 12

if it don't work and hp is not working on making a newer driver for Tahoe

then I suppose you can try the open source gutenberg ones to see if that work

Gutenprint Supported Printers

if no luck then you will probably have to look for a new printer

According to the HP manual (page 51):

that printer seems to support AirPrint, which means vendor drivers should not be required.

Print wirelessly from your Mac to your printer - Apple Support

See if you can use the embedded web server to get the most current printer firmware loaded (page 15). That might not be available here, given the printer model. if not, you might have to use another operating system to get the latest printer firmware loaded.

If not via AirPrint, look for an HP app in the Mac app store that might work here.
