Dual US and UK citizen with e-sim for UK. How to manage “app not available in your region”?

I move back and forth a few times a year between both countries— nothing fishy here, just a remote worker who can escape the weather in one place for another. But I don’t know how to manage the problem of not being able to install apps (such as the Barclays Bank one, or a birdwatching one) in the UK. I’m obviously not going to cancel my US subscriptions in order to ‘move’ to the UK each time I travel. I think I only have one Apple ID, but of course I have a ‘name@icloud.com’ email and another ‘name@me.com’ account which I never ever use. Would it be possible to somehow make one of these a UK Apple account and the other one US Apple account? Would using a VPN work? And if I manage to use two Apple accounts to install apps, will this mess up my ability to use FaceTime or my phone? Or should I resurrect my ancient iPhone 5 and go back to having a physical UK mobile phone sim in it?
