If the drives are showing up on the desktop but not in Disk Utility, it’s likely a temporary glitch in Tahoe. Simply restart your system and connect the drive again.
If it is still not resolved, open Disk Utility and go to View > Show All Devices, sometimes only volumes appear by default, hiding the parent drive. If it still doesn’t show, try relaunching Finder and Disk Utility using Force Quit (Option + Command + Esc), or reboot into Safe Mode to refresh system extensions.
You can also run diskutil list in Terminal, if the drives appear there, the system recognizes them, meaning Disk Utility is just not rendering them properly.

There are physical external drives ( disks ) that when connected may show on the desktop and would appear disk utilities
Then, there are Cloud-based Drives * disks " like Google Drive or Microsoft One Drive and Apple iCloud Drive
Perhaps with a little more reliable information from the user
We maybe able to help with this vagueness in you statements
Did that they still don't show up.
