How do I create single-space lists?

No matter what I do, either on my iMac or my iPad, I cannot get Pages to create either numbered or bulleted lists that are single-spaced. Pages always puts a space between each item. Surely there must be a solution, but all the solutions I find on the internet do not seem to work. Can you help? I want something like the following:

Bingo! I figure out the problem. I sat down on my iMac and started looking through the settings carefully and I discovered the setting “After paragraph,” which was set at 24. So I changed it to zero and found that when I hit Return I got the single space I wanted. So I’m now going back through my articles to make the appropriate changes.

Thanks for your help!

I see in the upper right of your screenshot that the paragraph style is "Default*". I can't reproduce that on my iPad, either on an existing document or a new document. Try to select the Body style.

BTW, are you using a specific template when you create a new document? I used the Blank template in my tests.
