Can't remove Google as my search engine

I have gone into settings and changed the search engine to DuckDuckGo. It still came up Google as the search engine when I opened Safari. I shut down my phone and restarted it. Still says Google when I open the Safari app. Also, I was searching for information on a type of fig and it was only giving me the AI response, not the search results. How do I get the search engine to change?
