What's with non-functioning AirDrop in OS Tahoe?

I was forced to upgrade from Sequoia to Tahoe by Apple tech support for an unrelated problem (- Apple won't help you unless you upgrade all your stuff to the "latest" software, which is "Step 1" in troubleshooting, in other words, "we hope something in the new software causes your problem to go away..." -) and, as is usually the case with version xx.0, all kinds of things are weird now or don't work. AirDrop is one of them.

AirDrop worked perfectly for me with Sequoia. I usually had a Calendar event or sometimes a vcf file or image from my MacStudio that I would send to my iPhone 16 or my MPPro. It worked fast and there was rarely a problem. It transferred within a couple of seconds. Now with Tahoe, AirDrop works only sometimes, and always take a very long time, sometimes stalling. The iPhone and MBPro connect with my laptop when I hit "Share"on the file as always, but when I select and click either one of them to send the file, I get "waiting" and it takes perhaps as long as 30 seconds or longer to send to the iPhone, and sometimes doesn't send at all. It stalls on the MBPro and eventually get the message "Declined." I NEVER had that message or problem with Sequoia or previous OS versions of whatever California property they were named after. I haven't gotten it to send to the MBPro at all.

As usual, when you ignore the two most important, age-old pieces of sage advice: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and "Never upgrade to version 'xx.0' of anything!", you regret it.

Since nothing has changed except the upgrade to Tahoe, I'm asking if others have this problem and hopefully, if Apple engineers are reading these threads, pointing out that you have a problem with Tahoe (and from what I've read, this would be just one of many, many...)

In fact, it’s very relevant. There have been several reports of VPNs causing issues with Tahoe. Other 3rd party software and extensions, too. Just because, “Nothing changed, only Tahoe,” what makes you think all your 3rd party software is automatically compatible with Tahoe? It’s the developers’ responsibility to make that happen, not Apple’s.

See if the problem is present when you boot in safe mode, which disables 3rd party extensions and performs some system cleanup.

Appreciate the question (answer is "no") but it would be irrelevant since whatever configuration I had before when things worked just fine is exactly the same as now; nothing changed, only Tahoe. (And it's v26.0.1 which means the .01% "bug fixes" didn't do anything...)

That is not correct. Many of the VPN's that worked previously have seen problems with Tahoe for not only basic internet connections but also for AirDrop. I have seen some VPN providers that have since updated their software to work with Tahoe, but not all of them. That is why I asked. With those that experienced problems, they thought that turning it off meant that it was not running, but that is not the case and the resolution required uninstalling the VPN where the issue was resolved.
