40watt charger 17 pro help

Thinking about getting the 40 watt for my 17 pro. Will it hurt the battery or be better than the 20 watt charger longevity wise? I know the 40w has lots of new power optimization features .

iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26

No it won’t hurt the battery. The iPhone 17 Pro peak charging will be (if I’m not mistaken) about 28w. Just because you use a 40w adapter doesn’t make the phone charge at 40w

If I’m not using my MagSafe charging base I use the 140w Apple adapter that’s technically for my MacBook Pro and have done that for every USB-C iPhone I have owned since getting it…I have never had battery issues although to be fair I usually don’t keep an iPhone for myself for more than 3 years but the point is that even at that point I have yet to have an iPhone with a need to replace the battery (meaning reached 80% or below battery health…and the one iPhone I kept for 4 years was at 82% when I finally got a new iPhone for that line). If I’m not mistaken the lowest watt adapter I have used for charging iPhones in years has been a 45w charger with exception of the wireless charger in my car…no clue what watt it is because it’s OEM but typically they are pretty low watt.
