How do I downgrade from iOS 26?

iOS 26 changed a number of things, undocumented, and as a result has made it harder for me to use an iPhone. I would like to go back one version, which while not perfect was dramatically easier to use and easier to read.

Some examples:

  1. Safari controls at the top and bottom of the screen. Waste of space. Only option in compact mode is at the bottom which when touched has the jarring effect of jumping up to another location to open the keyboard.
  2. Email. Now email controls take up a full third of the screen. Similarly placing Search, Filters controls at the bottom takes up valuable real-estate and is jarring when actually used. Pull-down to search worked well.
  3. Search. It seems Apple wants this everywhere. But again placing it at the bottom of the screen makes its use jarring requiring the user to re-orient themselves the moment they try to use it. Worse, it is unnecessary to always be on screen. Even more worse it now interferes with the "Reach" gesture.

Yes, I've sent these into the Feedback circular file. In general I have been disappointed with the "updates" to these apps (mail and safari) and with the latest release, it's becoming even more difficult to use. Add in the legibility issues (which I have countered by using accessibility to eliminate some of the transparencies, which in turn just gives everything ugly outlines) and I now have to get back to a usable and readable version. Please help!

Sorry … there is no supported OS version “roll-back.”

See if anything here might help w/ the legibility issues:

You cannot downgrade and that has never been a supported option on any OS version, including those found on Android devices. All you can do is move forward. While you may consider Feedback useless, you have already seen features introduced from users who have sent feedback. While iOS 26.1 is currently in beta and we cannot comment on the issues resolved, you may be surprised what has been incorporated from issues brought up here on this support site, where they were given the Feedback link to let Apple know. The release date has not been officially announced, so stay tuned!

If we are just talking about opinions, I like the Search on the bottom of the screen where it makes more sense having it closer to the keyboard when entering text, than on top of the screen. I find it better that way, but if enough people send in Feedback with a different opinion, maybe there will be a Setting giving you the choice of top, bottom, or off.
