Issues with RAM and CPU usage with Google applications on Safari

Every time I open more than 2 google docs tabs, or a couple of gmail tabs on Safari, my macbook starts lagging and I see my CPU usage spike and my RAM going into the orange, which leads to massive lag and freezes on my macbook (Air, m4, 15 inch). I've just done an etrecheck report, can anyone tell me how I can fix this?
