iPhoneLife urging TotalAV protection.

I receive daily tips and advice for iPhone use in my emails from iPhone Life.

Today 1st November 2025 they’re suggesting I get TotalAV protection for my iPhone (16 Pro Max) as protection from viruses and malware etc.

I’m old & rely 100% on my iPhone for literally everything as I do not have any other devices, I’m disabled & widowed, everything is done online & delivered to my home as I never go out unless unavoidable, with no family or support network.

After searching previous threads here I am confused as to whether I need to buy this TotalAV extra protection?

I’m not savvy at all about anything relating to tech, computing, or apps etc etc including this, so would be grateful for clarification.

Thanks in advance.

Don't get it. Apple's operating system isn't susceptible to viruses and malware. Firstly, any applications must be installed through the App Store, which go through their testing process. They cannot be installed from the web. Secondly, those apps are "sandboxed" meaning they can only access data within their app, not outside of it such as system settings. If you download that app, the same applies, it won't be able to scan files outside of it.
