"Password is required to enable touch id" since upgrading to Tahoe, but more frequently that the 48 hours quoted

SInce upgrading to Tahoe, I frequently have to imput the password to enable touch-id.

PW expected on reboot, PW expected after 48 hours - that's all fine and as per documentation.

This is being seen after an hour, maybe two - the token (or whatever it's using, needs to be refreshed way more frequently that 48 hours)

Anyone got any potential solutions?

Rebooted - yes

Cleaned the touch id pad - yes (although works fine when it's enabled)

Toggling touch ID off and on again - yes (which had to be done following the uprade to get touch id to work at all, and whilst there toggled off/on all the various touch id options)

Checked for updates - yes (all up to date)

Good work there 👍

It seems, from what I have seen on these Forums and across macOS 26 Tahoe, macOS 15 Sequoia and macOS 14 Sonoma

The Intel computers with Touch ID Configurations are most effected by this issue

It seems that Apple may've " dropped the ball "

Would suggest to " hold on " a bit longer for a possible Tahoe 26.1 to be made available as a commercial release

On the positive side

Using a M4 15" MBA Apple Silicon machine with Tahoe 26.0 and later Tahoe 26.0.1

Touch ID performs as expected
