safari 26 tab groups automatically open

After Apple upgraded my Safari to version 26 the tab groups automatically open whenever I click on the group, even though all of the tabs are already visible on the top of the page. This is quite annoying and makes navigation much more cumbersome. I can't find a preference to keep the groups closed as a default.
