When ctl-clicking multiple files in finder, and pulling up 'get summary info,' it won't let me type in comments. I want comments, not tags. Is there a way around this?
Also, these are my files, permissions are read and write.

When you select multiple files and choose Get Info from the contextual menu, that selection choice suppresses the comment field in the combined info panel. That is simply the way this mode is designed and if you want to put comments in the individual files, you will need to perform Get Info on each separately.
Get Summary Info is a result, not the secondary menu item to produce that result.

Command i — is the get info shortcut I typically use.
Does not solve your initial query however—
What you can do is hold the Option key and Commnand i
This will keep the "Get info" pane open and you can arrow down through the files and copy & paste as you go for your repetitive task.

Finder> File > Get Info ??
