Unable to swipe between full-screens or view multiple desktops

I was searching for an answer to this, and saw no clear answer.

(I had the same problem.)

It is likely that multiple full-screens (desktops) had not been set up.

To set up more screens (desktops).

Go to mission control by tapping F3, with the box icons on it.

This gives a view of all your open apps.

On the top right, there is a plus sign.

This will add extra full-screens (desktops).

Now you will be able to scroll left and right, with three (or four) fingers.

Hi Ralphy!

Re: "Unable to swipe between full-screens or view multiple desktops"

Am unsure whether you are still looking for answers, or posting a solution that has worked for you,

Seems you have MacOS 14.1 installed ?

Keeping the MacOS updated to the newest compatible MacOS version often sidesteps issues.

What's new in the updates for macOS Sonoma - Apple Support

says the newest version of Sonoma is macOS Sonoma 14.8.2

and "This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users".

Article also provides the link: " How to get these updates "

___

Else: If MacOS is already using the newest compatible MacOS version:

Restarting Mac (ie: Apple Menu > Restart / Wait, and then log back in) often restores order if something is not working as expected, (ie: deletes temporary files, may update recent setting changes, re-establishes connections, etc,)

Apple Support's artiicle for MacOS Sonoma: Work in multiple spaces on Mac - Apple Support provides tips:

Eg: says:

"Move between spaces

On your Mac, do any of the following:

  • On a trackpad, swipe left or right with three or four fingers. On a Magic Mouse, swipe with two fingers.
  • Press the Control key and the Right or Left arrow key.
  • Enter Mission Control, move the pointer to the top edge of the screen, then click a space in the Spaces bar.

If your Mac has a Touch Bar, you can set an option in Keyboard settings to show spaces in the Touch Bar. Then just tap a space in the Touch Bar to open the space."

There is more info. in the first linked article if needed.

All the best :-)
