Keeping iPhone updated to the newest compatible iPadOS version may help keep up-to-date with security issues and bug-fixes. You can check for updates in Settings > General > Software updates.
As Apple users, it is up to us whether we do the major upgrade right away to be able to use the new features, or whether we prefer to wait until any (almost inevitable) software bugs have been overcome in later versions of the upgrade,
Wondering which iOS version you are using on your iPhone:

says iOS 26.1 is the latest version:
It also contains bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone, as well as other features.
________
Reminder: If you choose to update the iPadOS version, it is always wise to back-up iPad first.
