I deleted and reinstalled my brother HL-L2390DW laser printer/scanner after upgrading to Tahoe. I can print, but I can't open Print Center (it crashes) and so I can't get to the scanner to use the scan function. I can't find any software to reinstall on the Brother support/downloads webpage.

The printer appears to use AirPrint, meaning no drivers are required.
By 'Print Center' do you mean 3rd party software from the manufacturer, or do you mean the settings pane in macOS? If you mean the former, try the latter – go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select your printer then Open Scanner.
Or just do directly what that button does, which is launch Applications > Image Capture and select the device.

I wasn't even aware that existed, thanks for pointing it out. Makes sense that it would be there, since it opens (briefly) when there's something in the print queue, I guess I just never looked for the app itself. Most likely that is what the OP is referring to.
Clicking the scanner button in the top right corner also opens the Image Capture app.
Hopefully one of the workarounds works. Not sure why Print Center is crashing, but @RogerAP bugs can be reported to Apple here:
I *think* that's what the OP meant, based on the name. That seems to be a common way to open the scanner now that printer proxies don't exist. Either of your suggestions will get him to the scanner - and I was also curious about why Print Center was crashing.
