MacBook Air Crushed by Tahoe macOS

Any Tahoe I installed (currently at 26.1) has my MBA barely usable, whereas Sequoia was fine, with no change in the workload.

I frequently encounter randomly occurring and complete UI lock-ups that last, as measured, about 25 seconds, sometimes with the spinner showing, other times not.

Any remedies that aren't major Computer Science projects? Maybe a setting to tone down some of the added features?

Thanks in Advance,

gA

It is possible there are processes running in the background that are using significant resources. Check Activity Monitor, CPU tab, sort by % CPU and Memory tab, sort by Memory to see what's running hard.

Also of note is that now I'm getting a steady stream of logd crash reports.

Like usability, Sequoia had none of these problems, for same platform and user load. My old mac desktop that uses 3GHz 6-core Intel i5 with Sequoia 15.7.1. and similar user load is much more usable than this MBA M2 8GB RAM drive - with memory and CPU usage fluctuating wildly, mostly affected, as far as I can tell, by kernel_task, corespotlightd, and WindowServer.

It's hard to tell what files are in the virtual memory mapped disk anb what ones are in my iCloud drive.
