"I'm using an Iphone 12 IOS 18.7.2 with my Airpods 4 w/Noise Cancelling. According to all of the websites I've looked at, these Airpods should work the hearing test and consequently the hearing aid function, but when I called and spoke to Apple Support, they told me that I needed Airpods 2 pro or Airpods 3 pro with phone running IOS 26+. Can anyone shed some light on this?"

Shedding Light on This:
Google most certain says you can --but they are nothing of Apple:
- Go Here: Airpods 4 with Noise Cancellation on ios 26.1
- As it Reads: "AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation can be used with iOS 26.1 for features like Live Translation (with new languages added in iOS 26.1) and improved studio-quality audio recording. To toggle noise cancellation, press and hold the force sensor on the AirPod stem; you can also switch modes and adjust settings through Control Center or your iPhone's settings. For a full list of new features, refer to the Apple Support page. This video demonstrates how to turn on and off noise cancellation on AirPods 4:"
