Strange disappearing tab behaviour in Safari 26.1 (MacOS)
Hi everyone,
Is anyone else having trouble using the tabs in MacOS Safari 26.1? I'm finding them entirely baffling on two separate Macs each running Tahoe.
As I add tabs, each tab gets narrower, but at a certain point the ones on the left just vanish and are no longer accessible - there's no indication they even exist without using the 'Show tab overview' button.
Here's a quick walkthrough. Safari is up-to-date, running without any extensions and I've cleared the caches.
Let's start with a couple of tabs open - everything looks fine:
Now I add some more tabs - these are just blank starting pages as a demonstration:
The tabs get narrower - just as I expect...
...add more tabs - and the leftmost tab (from the BBC) has vanished entirely. There's no indication that there is another tab in the window and no way of getting to it without using the button...
Delete one of the other tabs - and voila! the BBC tab is back, it was just hiding somewhere out of view...
Have I got a really weird setting in Safari or is this just a bug?
It's driving me slightly crazy, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Mike.
