iOS 26 change: Location sharing only through Find My app

My wife and I frequently share our location with each other depending on the situation. It was great because I could just view her location through her profile on our chat thread. After iOS 26 this has not been an option. The only way we can view it now is through the Find My app. Is this change permanent to anybody’s knowledge?
