My wife has a new iPhone, why did I get the offer of free Apple TV for a new iPhone?

As title suggests

for more information I purchased my wife a new iPhone from John lewis

there is no family sharing and no obvious link between us to apple

the only link is that I purchased the phone on my credit card from John Lewis which uses an email I use for my apple account

i gave the phone to the wife as a present and she just transferred from her old iPhone to this new one

our apple accounts are not connected in any way, yet I got the offer of the free Apple TV for purchasing a new I phone come up on both my iPad and iPhone

I may be paranoid, but just how is this possible?

i buy lots of apple products from John Lewis for my extended family and this hasn't happened before

does John Lewis give apple the email address for my purchase or share more details

i realise data is bought and sold as a commodity now

but there should be zero link between my john Lewis account buying a new iPhone and my apple account

just to be clear The new phone was set up by my wife who has a completely different apple account and we do not have family sharing

the new iPhone was not connected to ,y apple account in anyway

You may wish to call John Lewis about this. The common denominator appears to be both they and Apple have your email address. All I can think of is JL provided your mail address with the sales information with your email address and Apple then associated it with your account.

I am guessing that since JL has your email address then this may be something they are sending out to eligible purchasers of Apple hardware. JL would have no idea as to actually set up the device. You getting the email after using your card would point to that. Is there any indication as to who sent the email?

Nobody here works for Apple so we don't know how things work behind the scenes.

Here is a shot from my iPad with the offer

i didn't get an email It's directly offered to me in the settings

I even asked the wife.... have you cloned my phone on the sly to spy on me as she does have my passcode, I do t have anything to hide 😂, I'm just truly baffled why I would get the offer in my iPhone and iPad settings when there is no direct link between the purchase and my apple products.... apart from the John Lewis account I used to purchase the gift has the same email address as my apple account

If I had money to burn I'd almost be tempted to buy the cheapest phone John Lewis sells and give it to my niece or nephew and see if I get another offer

I just checked and we don't have family sharing either

It's just I am genuinly curious how I would get a notification if buying a new phone on my device.... just from making a purchase at John lewis

i don't even have apple AI enabled on my devices .... I know how nefarious some of those algorithms can be

I'm a complete dinosaur, but in a former life I was a Head Of IT for an oil and gas company I can't name because of an NDA I signed upon retiring, so whilst I fully admit I'm waaaay out of touch with current IT stuff..... I just didn't think I was that way out of touch
