Leaving Family Sharing at 16 with Screen Time

Hello,

I have a question regarding Family Sharing. I am 16 years old and I am writing about leaving the Family group. I have wanted to do this for a long time because I need access to certain apps, but I haven’t been able to agree with my parents.

Can I leave the Family group when I turn 16? What happens if I have Screen Time enabled?

This is a very important matter for me, and I would be very grateful for your response.

If you set up Screen Time then just disable it. If you did not, your parents will have to or else you would have to erase your device and not restore it from a backup made since screen Time was set --> If you forgot your Screen Time passcode - Apple Support

Leaving the family group is a separate matter. Once you are no longer a "child" by Apple's definition (age varies by country) you can leave on your own. I don't think that will resolve the Screen Time issue though. How to leave or remove a member from a Family Sharing group - Apple Support

Edit:

Hmmmm... This post seems to imply that once you leave the family that Screen Time is removed. I really am not sure that is the case.
