I just got a new M5 iPad Pro. I want to disable Search from going through Files just like in my MacBook. I went to Search > Files > Turned off “Show App in Search” and “Show Content in Search”. However, search STILL shows results from Files. I also disabled Files from Siri which did not solve the issue.

I found the fix to this weird bug. You will have to turn off iCloud sync and then turn it back on.
Try to force restart your iPad. This will clear the search indexes and most likely remove the file results.

That's odd. For me just disabling Search in Settings > Apps > Files is enough for the files no longer to be searchable.
Is your iPad up to date with iPadOS 26.1?
This did not fix it. Files and its contents still pop up when I search terms.
