iOS 26.1: CarPlay maps freeze and don’t show current location on start-up.

Hi,

Since updating to iOS 26.1, I’ve noticed that the map on my car’s map display does not snap to my current location when I start my car. The map tends to show somewhere nearby or somewhere I’ve been recently but not my actual location.

If I select the map using the car controls, then it will immediately show my current location.

If I navigate away from the CarPlay home-screen, to the music app for example, then the map freezes again. I’ll have to select the map again to get it to follow my location.

Not the end of the world, but a bit irritating and means taking my eyes off the road to change things.

The same phenomenon happens with Apple Maps, and other navigation software, all since the iOS update. So, I assume it’s an Apple problem, but open to suggestions.

Has anyone else had the same issue? If so, is there a fix?
