Scam or no?

Do not reply to suspicious text messages, click on any links in them, or call any phone numbers in them. Although a bank might use text messages to alert you to potentially suspicious activity, this message looks a little "phishy".


I'm not sure if the scam going on is that

  • Scammers tried to post a fraudulent charge to your credit card with the description "APPLE COM BILL" (which is similar to the description lines you sometimes see for real Apple charges), and Chase detected and blocked it, or
  • Scammers posing as Chase Bank are trying to trick you into thinking that "Chase" has contacted you about some scam (so that they can then trick you into revealing financial information to them)


If you have an account with Chase, and think there might be a real issue, contact Chase directly, using known good contact information, like that on their official Web site, or printed on their card. If the message was legitimate, they will be happy to handle your call. If it wasn't, then you will have dodged a bullet.
