Find My live location and contact widget not working

I just updated to the iPhone 17 from iPhone 15 Pro. In the find my app my son is no longer “live” for location it just shows “now” but is delayed. I still have the 15 Pro on wifi and it shows his live location. How do I make this work on the 17. I also have a contact widget that when opened on 15 Pro showed his location but on the 17 it doesn’t.
