expired trust store? or some other problem??

i have an old ipad on ios 9.3.5, the last update it could do. Just this week it started failing to connect to some secure web servers. It seems like a coincidence but the trust store is 2015111600, assuming that is a date of the store it becomes 10 years old this week which i would suspect is probably the expiration date on a root certificate used by the sites i had been monitoring with it, https://www.spaceweather.gov/communities/space-weather-enthusiasts-dashboard and https://radar.weather.gov/. i can't find a way to update the trust store so i assume that it was distributed with the ios updates. anyone know a way to update the store or is it also going to fail because of newer ssl or tls protocols??

It's the cert. Site developer/owners decide on the level of security they need and set the site accordingly. Old browser get left out.

We also have an iPad that is maxed out at 9.3.5 and are finding a large number of web sites that will not work with such an old iPadOS version. If, while the iPad was still supported on the App Store, you downloaded an alternative browser other than Safari, it might work. However, you cannot download a supported version for 9.3.5 today if you do not already have one.
