AirPods Pro 2 battery percentage displays incorrectly

how do i fix the battery percentage display of my airpods pro 2? whenever it plays the tune, i know that it’s low battery, and when i open the case the light is red, but the battery percentage being shown on my phone is always 100% for the case and in the 90% range for the pods themselves. how do i fix it to show what percentage they’re actually on so i know to charge them without the annoying sound? i’ve already tried disconnecting and connecting them but it didnt work, haven’t tried charging them overnight and then disconnecting it and seeing where it goes from there but maybe i’ll have to do that.
