Logic Pro X: Degraded vinyl recording from Denon mixer

Hi everyone. Need to pick someones brains. I have an issue trying to record vinyl with logic pro x. Im using a denondj x1850 mixer connected by usb to a macbook air running logic the sample rate and bit rate are both set to 48khz and 24 bit on both machines but the audio im hearing from vinyl through the mixer is very different from the audio im hearing pre and post bouncing in logic. The vinyl is very clear whereas the audio being played back out from logic through the mixer is degraded like its lost a lot of clarity a really compressed mp3 file. any ideas as to what I might be missing? there are no effects on the channel strip which could affect the sound
