Swiping up to show open apps, some just vanish and I can’t swipe to close them.

I installed iOS 26. If I swipe up to show open apps a few will just vanish from the screen. The space where they were just goes black. When I swipe up the apps that are there to close them, it does not return to my home screen, I need to swipe up again. If I want to close the apps that blacked out I swipe up again, but they immediately black out, and the entire screen is black and will not go back to my home screen. It seems to just lock on the black screen and no matter what I do it just stays locked on the black screen. I have to open an app in order to continue using the iPad or close and open the IPad by pushing the side finger print sensor button. Apple has to know about this. Is there a resolution?
