Mac mini Desktop folders show down-arrow

Mac mini M4 - running OS 26.1

Just upgraded iCloud storage to 2TB...200 GB now in the cloud.

All my Desktop folders now display a small down-arrow icon next to the folder names.

Appreciate info on what these mean.....Thanx!

That is the 'keep downloaded' icon.

Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive - Apple Support

Keep items downloaded on your Mac
If you turned on Optimize Mac Storage, older documents are stored in iCloud when space is needed. However, you can choose to keep certain files or folders downloaded on your Mac no matter what.
1. On your Mac, click  in the Dock to open a Finder window, then click iCloud Drive in the sidebar.
2. Control-click the items, then choose Keep Downloaded.
3. The Keep Downloaded icon  appears next to the item’s name.
If you no longer want to keep an item downloaded, Control-click it, then choose Keep Downloaded (so the checkmark disappears).
