MacBook Air volume control key layout appears reversed
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new MacBook Air and noticed something odd about the volume control keys on the keyboard. On all of my previous MacBook devices (including my last MacBook Pro), the function keys were like this:
F10: Mute
F11: Volume Down
F12: Volume Up
But on my new MacBook Air, the layout seems reversed:
F10 Volume Up
F11 Volume Down
F12 Mute
Is this the expected layout on the latest MacBook Air models (2025, M4)? I am honestly a bit confused and I need to know if there is a way to verify that my MacBook Air is an original Apple device? Could it be due to a keyboard settings or a regional keyboard layout?
PS: I got my previous MacBook Pro from the US but this one is from the middle-east.
I appreciate any assistance or guidance to this matter
Thank you
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.5
