Sounds like a scam.

If this message appeared briefly in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen, it was probably delivered using a Web notification.

Stop unwanted Notifications - Apple Community

Remember that no one, not even the minor deities on Mount Apple, can "see" was is or isn't on your computer unless you deliberately grant them remote access. That makes all such messages scams.
