Looking for app store games in landscape mode…my screen is on automatic rotate but I’ve grown weary of loading a game that is advertised in landscape mode but then it isn’t or loading & unloading numerous games just to find out. Isn’t there any way to categorize or filter the games?

I don't think that there is any indication in the App Store as to whether or not a particular apps supports landscape. You might be able to tell from the screenshots.
It would also be hard for anyone here to recommend games to you as we don't know you or what kind of games you like.
I have an unfortunate obsession with Merge Dragons. It's landscape only.
Thanks so much for answering! I was just hoping that I was missing something that would make this easier. I’ve been playing the same games for quite some time now & there’s been lots of changes so I am losing interest. Most are match 3 games like Gardenscapes. A merge game now & then. I also like Angry Birds 2 but they are changing the entire concept. It’s just time to look for something else. BTW - screenshots of the game are not an indication…especially word games. I was thinking that the screenshots might show the game in landscape mode (or not). I agree that the content in the screenshots is of.... questionable... accuracy.
If you like Gardenscapes, you might like Merge Dragons.
