There are know stand alone updates for Face ID that I am aware of. So, you'll have to overview these two provided links...

• If Face ID isn't Working on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

• If an Alert Says Face ID has been Disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

It's in the Settings app. Scroll down and Find "FaceID and Passcode". Enter your screen passcode. Then you can reset Face ID.
