Cannot hear playback when monitor button is on

Hi having problems when recording audio ..the monitor (orange) button is pressed and I hear myself while recording (all is fine)...on playback if I leave the monitor button on ...I can't hear the playback ...I have to turn it off ...ok fine..

if I am doing an (auto punch ) function I cant hear the plackback if the monitor button is on ...so in fact now I have to keep switching it on and off repeatedly....can anyone help?

  1. In Logic's top bar menu, uncheck Record > Auto Input Monitoring
  2. You need to decide if you wanna hear the input signal directly thru your sound card or Logic. If you hear a phasing or doubling, you hear both, the direct sound card input signal and Logic. I prefer to hear through Logic because then I can hear the plugins on the input channel. Others prefer to listen directly through the sound card input since this works (almost) without latency. However, you have to choose one or the other.
