"Depot repair under limited warranty" at Genius Bar

I purchased an iPad Pro on Oct 4, 2025 and by the end of October it kept crashing. I called Apple support via phone, and they installed software via my iMac. It's now Nov. 22, and I visited the local Apple store (Genius Bar). I was told that to take the iPad home and I'd be contacted when to pick up a new iPad. The work order email says is below. Does this mean that I'm getting a refurbished iPad rather than a replacement of a new iPad. If that's the case, I simply want a refund. What does "Depot repair under limited warranty" mean?

Issue: Customer states iPad is boot looping to Apple logo. Customer states Apple support did Software update and restore but issue still persists.

Steps to Reproduce: Verified issue in store. Was not able to run testing due to device constantly restarting.

Cosmetic Condition: No cracks or damage.

Proposed Resolution: Depot repair under limited warranty.

In most countries/regions, Apple offers an unconditional 14-day returns policy - where an unwanted (undamaged) device can be returned for exchange or refund. Upon expiry of the 14-day returns period, device faults will be handled under the Apple limited warranty - this typically being one year, or for EU Member States, two years.

In some countries you may have additional consumer rights legislation - under which you may have additional protected rights.
