From the Owner/Author of this Question:

Thank you all for your questions and suggestions.

History: relatively new battery, clean button. For a few weeks, TID would hardly ever work and went immediately to requiring a passcode, then just stopped working (but could still use passcode).

I tried Powering Down; didn't work.

I deleted 2 existing finger prints, replaced with 2 (same) finger prints.

WORKED LIKE A CHARM!

How is it failing? Is your Mac not powering on? Or, is Touch ID not working?

Troubleshooting Touch ID:

Reset the SMC and your NVRAM:

(Applies to Intel-Based Macs Only): Sometimes when changes are made to the system(i.e. Updates), system configurations (i.e. for Power) become manipulated, technically. So, reset the SMC and NVRAM. Try performing each thrice. It may take sometime, being certain you have the time to perform these resets.

Troubleshooting Mac Power:

A. Black Mac Screen:

Go Here: If your Mac doesn't Turn On or Start Up - Apple Support

Using External Devices: Try Resetting the SMC and NVRAM, but this time, using an external keyboard. Connect an external monitor and see if you get an output.

B. Mac Power Issues:

Try a New Charger:

If it is currently charging from a charger, then use a new charger:
