Seeking Apple's guidance on WhatsApp account ban and App Store standards

Hi Apple Community,

I have a question about Apple and their control over the apps they let on the App Store.

I’m trying to get help with an issue involving my WhatsApp account, which was suddenly banned without warning or explanation. Since WhatsApp is owned by Meta, I know it is not an Apple service directly, but I’m reaching out because I’m having trouble finding any real human support through the app. All the contact methods route me to automated responses, and there’s no proper support channel available through WhatsApp or Meta.

Because WhatsApp is one of the most widely used communication apps internationally, losing access without explanation is creating a safety and communication issue for me. I’m hoping Apple can guide me on whether there’s a proper way to escalate this, since it an app under the App Store (aren’t they required to meet certain standards/criteria to be allowed to be on the platform?)

Any guidance, contact pathway, or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Anyone can submit an app to the App Store and all it has to do is meet the minimum submission guidelines as seen here:

App Review Guidelines - Apple Developer

Apple will not be able to guide you on any resolution with a third party app and each Developer is responsible for providing their own support. There is no phone support requirement to have an app in the App Store, and for WhatsApp they have support available here that relates to Account Bans. There is no requirement to tell you the reason for the account ban.

Any resolution if possible will have to come from Meta. You can write a review for the app in the App Store to let others know about your experience using their service. WhatsApp is a cross platform app where an account can be banned no matter what device you are using and is not specific to Apple. If you chose to use a different device and downloaded the app from that platform, you would find out your account is still banned.

1) Apple does not participate on this support interface. We are users like you.

2) I very, very strongly suspect Apple will just tell you that you need to contact Meta. Meta is the one who set the ban and only Meta can remove it. Apple only is involved with the whole thing in making the app available on Apple's App Store. You should leave a review on the App Store about this since Apple may review that to see if there are ongoing issues such as lack of customer support.
