MacBook Air screen failed after 14 months

My 14 month old MacBook Air screen has failed. Originally bought in US, but living in UK. Never dropped or damaged, failed with no explanation and the laptop is just out of warranty. What are my options?

I have already pursued this route but the Genius Bar were extremely unhelpful. I believe I have further consumer rights considering it is reasonable to expect a laptop of this value to last longer than 14 months but they were dismissive of my request for a consumer law evaluation. So I am looking for advice of where I can escalate this to.
