You can't, only Macs or a Windows computer can be used.

And if it's locked by Activation Lock, you basically have a brick.

Apple will not unlock it unless you have the oroginal receipt from Apple or authorized reseller.

Activation lock is a security protocol that can't be bypassed. Only the person it is locked to can unlock it.

If you bought this from someone and it came locked, try to get your money back, you will never be able to use the phone.

The data on that phone is lost and won't be retrievable unless your friend has a backup, which they likely don't have on such an old iPhone. There really is not point as Apple cannot help get the data off the phone and the only way in the phone is to completely erase using a real computer, then set it up again. In the process ALL of the data on the phone WILL be wiped.

Sounds like Activation Lock. That's a no go.
