USB-C SD card reader not recognized on Windows laptop

I purchased a USB-C SD card adapter/reader put my SD Card in and plugged it into my windows PC that has a USB-C port and cannot transfer anything. The pc makes the sound it makes when something is plugged in, but I can't find the device anywhere. Tried iTunes. Wanted this device so I can transfer things between my iPhone, iPad and pc...any help? Mac doesn't work for my job so I couldn't commit to the full ecosystem even if I wanted to. Model number is A2082

Your Apple USB-C SD Reader A2082 is compatible with Windows, but most likely:

The laptop USB-C port is not a full data port,
OR
The SD card needs a drive letter or supported format.

Check Disk Management and try another USB-C/USB-A port.

if it was me then I would look for it in file explorer (it may only show up if a sd card was put into it )

other places I would look would be devices or disk management
