Composed text disappears unexpectedly on MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro, 2 iPads, an iPhone, an Apple Watch & Parkinson’s Disease.

This evening I composed a message to send to a friend in Canada. I had almost finished it when all the text I had struggled to enter suddenly disappeared. Yes, I do realise that I must have inadvertently pressed a key combination that kicked my literary masterpiece into the outer darkness but I promise you that after the 10th or 12th time it has happened, it begins to irritate.

Does Apple not have anyone of sufficient genius to introduce a check before deleting a substantial parcel of text?

if it is TextEdit.app look at the drop down menu File>Revert To...

Thank you for that. It will save me using a lot of foul language in future, even though it didn’t directly answer my question.

If you were to take a randomly selected 100 regular users of Apple products, I doubt that more than 10 of them would know about the methods you use to recover lost text & most of them would be IT specialists. What is needed for the rest of us is something that prevents us from accidentally deleting text, rather than patching up the damage later.

I would think that this is a job for the much trumpeted AI, which should be able to identify text & pause any cut, delete or move instruction until it had been confirmed.
